What a terrible thing to want
Trying to stop
Loving someone
What a crime
What a thought
To have wished all my love away
Friends will be no comfort
And words will be broken
And lose all meaning
And lose all meaning
When we are old fossils
When we are old dear fossils
Will I be glad
To have wishes all my love away
Who knows how to make love stay
I like clicking really quickly on wikipedia links, getting more and more specific, or further and further from your original topic. You can do a similar thing on Spotify, just keep clicking related artists till you find some abandoned page with 9 monthly listeners . If you were to trust spotify’s metrics (monthly listeners and track plays) as measurements of cultural relevance or importance of an artist to people then you’d be very confused. Olivera Katerina currently has 320 monthly listeners on spotify, a speck of dust in the eyes of the algorithm, but an icon to fans of Yugoslavian cinema. The spotify algorithm favours artists that are releasing music constantly so even the legends of the past get forgotten quickly.
All of which to say, despite how urgent and frantic Spotify and Instagram want you to be about music promotion, when you release music it’ll be around forever to be discovered in 50 years or 100 years by people who want to keep on searching out new and old music.
That’s maybe quite a long winded way of saying, Tomyr and I havn’t done much manic posting on social media for the release of this single because we’re both being musicians full time. I have made a playlist of the new single and music by my talented and beautiful friends, music that will be around forever and people that aren’t even nearly born yet will find it and love it.
Fossils is out now and Tomyr and I would like you to listen to it - I’m touring with the circus now and Tomyr’s not touring playing the organ (cos it’s too heavy) but we’re scheming away some live shows for the end of this year, thank you.
